Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)

The EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) was introduced in England and Wales from January 2006 with a three year implementation period ending January 2009.

The government introduced Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for residential property in August 2007 with the launch of Home Information Packs. Now, from October 2008, all commercial buildings constructed, sold or rented require an EPC and all Public Buildings will require a Display Energy Certificate.

Only accredited energy assessors will be able to carry out assessments to produce Energy Performance Certificates for residential, commercial and public property.
